I sink in deep mire,
where there is no foothold;
I have come into deep waters,

You quote Psalm 69:2-3. Verse 2 talks of sinking in the mire and being swept up in the flood. Verses 14 and 15 talk of rescuing me from sinking in the mire and being swept up in the flood. The psalmist is not resigned to her plight – she pleads for help. She trusts in God to help her. Although the situation is dire, it is not without hope.
